Founded by Lucius Crowe in 1812 after the liberation of Avalon The Ministry of Information is a state organisation dedicated to combating heresy, witch-craft and other more mundane crimes.

Less than a year after setting up the Ministry, Crowe started to be slowly poisoned by one of the Junior Ministers, who wanted to use the Ministry as his personal power base. Eventually the rebellion was crushed, but Crowe had disappeared, later returning as the vessel for a powerful nature spirit called the Wild Huntsman.

Special Agent Johann von Tasselstein was then selected as the new Minister, and under his fair and lenient hand the Ministry began to rebuild itself. Unfortunately von Tasselstein was also playing host to a member of the Brotherhood of Souls, something which he was having great trouble dealing with, and in a ritual intended to ease his suffering both von Tasselstein’s and Lot’s souls were shattered and then re-formed creating the being known as Benjamin Ben Johan Ben Lot. As far as most people are concerned von Tasselstein simply vanished.

After much debate the Witch-Finder Joseph Dirus was chosen as the most suitable candidate for the position of Minister and under his guidance the Ministry has returned to its roots as a feared and shadowy organisation with a zero-tolerance approach to all crimes and heresies.
