Bloodlines I - The Dumas Decree, 7th – 8th January 2006 (1815)
A group set off to visit the Black Forest, previously part of Von Dumas's lands on Salem, in search of the research of ex-Hatter Eric Johansson.
Doctor Jonathan Payne was the leader of the research facility and was carrying out experiments on humans. His theory being they could be subdivided into certain groups with inherent tendencies which could be brought to the fore, determined by the structure of their blood. He was working from an ancient Alfar text, known as the Alfar Codex.
Examples of his earliest experiments were the 'animen' who had had various feral sides of their natures brought to the surface by Payne's efforts.
Professor Fredrik Flagg, a former researcher enslaved by Von Dumas and put to work with Payne had been transformed into a mindless animal with the weight and strength of a fullgrown bear. The more sinister Sabrejaw, a savage beast intent only on feeding, fighting and mating, had been roaming the Forest much to the terror of the local villages.
Eric Johansson's research was into an invisibility potion, which worked with predictably explosive side effects. Eric had taken the liberty of taking and hiding an ancient Alfar artifact from Dr Payne's facility, a Mind Control Device which was capable of controlling the strongest minds. The device was recovered and used to wrest control of the animen away from Payne.
Callam reappears as a side effect of Paradox. It seems the meeting with Dumas in February 1814 never happened and thus, Rossini never had the chance to carry out his murderous assasination.
