Costume, Kit and Stuff

General

  • Adventurer's Mart - Costume, leather armour, Medlock latex weapons, Arrowkaster bows/arrows, belt pouches, weapon loops - pretty much everything the adventurer needs!
  • The Cutting Edge Costume Company - Specialists in leather items inlcuding scabbards, pouches, armour and boot tops. Also make weapons and shields.
  • Darkblade Leather - Loads of leather stuff: armour, scabbards, hoods, tankard straps and anything else you can imagine. If they don't make it, ask them for it and they will. Note: this page can take some time to download!
  • Get Dressed for Battle - Armour and costume of all periods up to late Medieval, mostly aimed at re-enactors but a lot of it is easily suitable for LRP. Doesn't currently seem to be selling the nice 25lb bows.
  • LRP Store - everything you could possibly need for LRP, from costume, accessories and armour to weapons and combat training, via special effects, contact lenses, camping equipment and pretty much anything else you can think of.
  • National Living History Fayre - Held twice a year at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.
  • The Original Re-enactor's Market - Held twice a year near Coventry, you can get almost anything here! Due to various problems with the organisers many of the people who used to trade at TORM will now only trade at the National Living History Fayre.
  • Snow and Fire - Costume, props and weapons made to order, as well as workshops on stage makeup, prop and costume manufacture, story telling, etc.
  • Tewkesbury Medieval Festival - Originally set up as an annual re-enactment of the Battle of Tewkesbury, now boasts a massive open air market where you can get anything from shirts to beds!.

Costume

  • Al Hannah - Offers a large selection of authentic Islamic clothing imported directly from the Middle East. Based in the US.
  • Ben Loder - Beautiful handmade leather costume, armour and props. This guy has worked on Troy, Kingdom of Heaven and other films.
  • Costumes Galore - Specialize in stage makeup and theatrical costuming. Based in the US.
  • Croft Design - Ecclesiastical outfitters. Their shop is in Much Wenlock (very close to Wilderhope Manor). Will add your custom designs to religious outfits.
  • Folkwear Patterns - Patterns for a wide range of period and historical garments, including late 1800s, Wild West, American & Japanese styles. Aimed at people with intermediate level sewing experience. For finished garment photos and sewing tips, see The Great Pattern Review - Folkwear. Based in the US.
  • Garb the World - Innexpensive, sturdy, machine washable medieval garb. Based in the US.
  • Habithat Patterns - UK supplier of Folkwear, Laughing Moon, New Look, Sense & Sensibility, and Simplicity Patterns. Reasonable prices and fast shipping. For larger or more detailed design pictures, see the main pattern manufacturer sites.
  • Historical Costume Company - Historical costume from almost every period/genre imaginable. Includes a section on Pirates, and on costume for children. Note: Site does not work properly on some browsers.
  • Kevin Garlick - Maker of quality period shoes. Pricey, but nice!
  • Laughing Moon Mercantile - Patterns for a range of period and historical garments, including good corset and ladies dress/skirt patterns, and simple men's pants.   • Lyonesse Clothing - Period clothing made by Helen (Ellie).
  • Maeve's Unmentionables - Custom hand-made clothing for Renaissance and Medieval re-enactment.
  • Masks by Jen - Handmade leather masks. Based in the US.
  • Medieval Weaponry - The weapons themselves are for re-enactment not LRP, but they do some nice costume, armour and accessories at reasonable prices.
  • Milieux - A massive list of links relating to costuming and costume resources. Materials, accessories, books, etc.
  • Sally Green - Historical costume and accessories. Most of it is off-the-peg, but she will accept custom orders. Provided the coats for the Salem Rifles.
  • Shades Leather - Lovely costumes and accessories, including woollen army jackets as well as a variety of leather goods. Will hapily make commissioned items to order.
  • New Link!The Shirt-Maker - Shirts off-the-peg and to order: calico, linen, cotton lawn: white, off-white and now (fanfare of trumpets) black: Pirate-style to authenti-shirts and anything in between. Not cheap but damn well made.
  • Sutlers Stores - Uniforms and accessories including a great selection of American Civil War and 'Wild West' items.
  • Suzi Clarke - Historical costumes from most periods, up to about 1830 for men, 1900 for women and children, and some fantasy costumes.
  • Threads of Time - Hand made, historically influenced unique clothing, specialty costumes and accessories. Based in the US.
  • Urda Handicraft - Medieval and fantasy inspired clothes & shoes. Based in Sweden.
  • Vanpoulles Ltd - A family business established in 1908 to provide the Church with all types of Church requisites. A great place to acquire costume and kit for religious characters. Now with online store!
  • Velvet Glove - Costume for LRP and re-enactment. Now with added gloves!
  • The Vintage Shirt Company - Mens shirts and accessories from 1700 to the present day.
  • War Wear - Period costume "to die for". Specialising in men's decorated jackets and Napoleonic uniforms, but they'll make anything. Please Note: War Wear's website is currently down.

Weapons

  • Arrow Kaster - the best place to go for LRP-safe bows, crossbows, arrows and quarrels. Sadly Arrow Kaster don't have a website, but you can contact them to request a catalogue or to order at: Arrow Kaster, PO Box 1945, Cannock, Staffs WS11 2TT. Tel: (01543) 466713.
  • By The Sword - For the serious collector and reenactor, don't try to use their weapons for LRP, but some of their historical armour and costume is excellent. Check it out.
  • Eldritch - Lots of stock weapons and standard products to order, very popular because they're good.
  • Hightower Crafts - Pricey, but some really very good stuff here if you can afford it. Lots of options on very fancy equipment, and even a Xena page for those who would brave the cold...
  • Loc Zero - A large variety of LRP weapons, from stock or made to order. Also do some metal armour.
  • Skian Mhor - "You imagine it, we create it" is the motto here. Armour, weapons, masks, make-up are all available as well as catalogues so you can browse at your leisure.
  • Swords 'n' Stuff - Intended for reenactment but has some very nice suits of armour to dribble over.
  • Tallows FX - Latex weapons and props both off the shelf and custom made.

Make-up & Effects

  • 1st Night - Facepaints, stage makeup, 3D make-up, camouflage, false eyelashes, masks, costume hire, wigs, etc. Buy online or visit their shop in Milton Keynes.
  • Back Stage Shop - Extensive range of theatrical make-up ranging from simple foundation pallets to gory special effects.
  • Monster Boutique - Morbid Mask's online shop. For masks, stage make-up, accessories and loads of stuff for creating top of the range bad guys.
  • Tower of Ein - Latex masks of all descriptions. Based in the US.

Camping Equipment

  • Army Tents - New and ex-army tents, ex-army marquees and ex-army camping equipment.
  • Kelly Kettle - Large and small storm kettles which will boil water in almost any weather!
  • Past Tents - Purveyors of fine quality tentage to suit any period, specializing in Late Medieval, Napoleonic and English or American Civil War designs.

  • Back to When - Hand crafted historical replicas. Includes wooden and pewter eating/drinking utensils, coins, jewelery, and more.
  • Brahm's Books - Beautiful leather-bound Medieval Grimoires and Ancient Tomes. Based in the US.
  • Flag Factory - More flags than you can shake a flag pole at. Both off the shelf and custom made to your own design. Based in the US
  • Grunal Moneta - Authentic-style hammered Coins from Celtic to Tudor times and everything in between. Will also make coins to your own design. Pricey, but nice, with discounts for large orders.

  • Shepherds Watch - Portable sundials and jewellery. Based in Canada.

  • Galaxy Fireworks - Fireworks at trade prices.
  • Hobby Craft - Huge shops across the UK with supplies for every craft imaginable. Sadly no online shopping as yet, but this site will let you locate your nearest store.
