Oberon brings news that Morpheus has also crossed into the waking realm but is not adjusting well. He seeks to bring the nightmare realm into this realm and has struck a deal with Mortanus to supply warriors who will help him, in exchange for Mortanus' help in making this happen. An attack by a nightmare creature is driven off and Oberon calls for volunteers to be trained to take the fight into the dream realm.

An entity called Ebon appears, claiming to be an 'envoy' from Faerie. She names Galconder as High Mage of Faerie.

Poseidon blames Rossini for the death of his nephew (grandson?) Callum, and demands that Rossini provide him with a son, born of a monarch, within 4 months.

A number of people have visions which indicate that working against the onset of Salvage on Faerie may, in fact, cause an even worse fate for the Shard, where the sun god, Lugh, is not reborn and hence the Shard dies. The Fey discuss whether it would be better to allow a modified version of Salvage to happen.
