At the Malgrin estate on Avalon, Salem, the Council of Thirteen of the Vampire Nation gather to perform a ritual. They are stopped, and 12 of the 13, including Crassau, Emperor of Salem, are killed using stakes which were part of the original ritual which created the Council.
The spirit of Guinevere/Lou is resummoned and placed into the body of CaitlÃn nà Connor for the duration of the fight, after which she leaves, to take up residence in the body of Queen Elise of the Dryad Nation.
Sir Joshua Lazerus-Grimstone, Knight of the Fey, is killed fighting Crassau, and posthumously made a Knight of Avalon by Bishop Ramsden Haigue. Guin blames Fionn for his death, and Fionn resigns his position as leader of the Brotherhood.
