As the Monarch forces led by Amatsu advance on the Water Margins region of the Five Thunders, rebel forces gather with their allies to hold the area and the portal which links it to the other rebel strongholds.

The news comes that all but three of the Tiger's had fallen in battle, those remaining being Fire, Air and Smoke. Under the guidance of the mysterious wiseman ' The Old Man of the Path', new champions are chosen to join with the Kami of the fallen Tigers.

Representatives of the Kami of the Five Thunders come to the Water Margins to consult with one of the generals in the approaching war of the elements.

Control of the Pagoda's of Ice, Shadow and Fire were wrested from the Monarch's allies and the Throne of Thunder was taken. The Throne was used to overwhelm the Monarch forces and then destroyed. Amatsu's geas is discovered and he is killed.
