Victor Von Dumas invites all interested parties to his castle in Latveria, situated between East and West Salem, in the hope that they can put aside their past differences and work together to defeat the current threat from the Monarchs. A new council is formed to work towards this end, with one representitive from each Shard.

Von Dumas's scientists 'accidentally' release a poisonous gas which has been grafted onto a common disease, forcing those invited to the castle to remain and listen to his proposals. Apothecaries and healers from the Upholsterer's and Carver's Guilds work together to produce an antigen and contain the outbreak before it is too late.

Andreas challenges Adam Craft to a duel over the Path of the Dead on Salem, and defeats him, with the aid of the Morrígan.

Callam, former Regent of the Seelie Court, is killed by Rossini.
